Template: Time-Off Policy
Use this template to overview your company's time off policy.
GreatCo. offers a flexible time-off policy, where we encourage you to take time off as you see fit.
You're a more productive individual and contribute more to our team when your batteries are recharged and when you're doing the things you ❤️most. Take time off. Don't be afraid to use it because you have an "unlimited" amount of time available to you.
There are some basic rules around how you can use PTO, mainly so that we can make sure the needs of our team and our customers are covered. As a note, this Card represents the high level overview of this policy. For more information on everything below, check the detailed information here: [LINK TO DOCUMENT]
Before taking PTO, follow these basic steps:
Going to be out of the office for 3 or less consecutive business days? Let us know one week in advance.
Going to be out of the office for 4-10 consecutive business days? Let us know one month in advance
Going to be out of the office for more than 10 consecutive business days? Let us know one month in advance so we can discuss the request.
We can't guarantee approval, but we'll work hard to make it work!
As a note, you don't have to request time off for these company holidays!
What to Consider Before Requesting PTO:
Communicate with your manager and team to make sure you and anyone else taking PTO can do so without majorly disrupting what needs to get done.
Plan ahead to manage projects to accommodate needs or arrange coverage during the time you are out (i.e. be a good human and respect the people you work with and our customers).
How to Request PTO
PTO requests should be submitted via [PORTAL NAME/LINK].
Be sure to log your time off on your personal Guru calendar
If your team has an OOO calendar, please add it there, too
What PTO is not meant for:
You can't use this to create a modified work schedule (i.e. take one day off a week)
You can't use this to take a month off, just 'cause you wanna 🙄
You can't use this policy in conjunction with any other paid leave policy that we has in effect
