Who are our members?

As a members organization, UArctic is fully controlled by our member institutions. Our network's organization and operations model are geared towards maximizing value and impact for our members, students and the region. Integral to maintaining this is UArctic's membership structure and rules, which are written into the UArctic Bylaws.

UArctic's members are institutions or organizations with an interest in and commitment to higher education and research in the Circumpolar North. Our members are the heart of the network, as their contributions are the basis for success of all our activities.

UArctic has two membership categories: Arctic Members and Non-Arctic Members. Within each membership category there are also two member types: Higher Education Institutions and Other Organizations.

UArctic members cooperate with each other on multiple levels, focusing on faculty, institutional leadership and international collaboration. With nearly 200 member institutions and organizations spanning 24 time zones in the eight Arctic countries and beyond, UArctic is the North’s only truly circumpolar higher education network and one of the world’s largest education and research networks.
