We're Guru and we love our HQ city ๐. These are our current favorites that you need to check out in the fallโcheck back often, because we keep our recs fresh ๐.
๐ฟCira Green is a rooftop park with views of the city you (and your Instagram feed) won't want to miss. Pack some lunch for an urban picnic, or check out their events calendar to see what's going on while you're in town.
โจ Magic Gardens, a not-so hidden South Street gem created by artist Isaiah Zagar.
โด Race Street Peer also offers great views of the city and the Ben Franklin Bridge. Stroll over to Cherry Street Pier to check out the food vendors and art instillations while you're over there.
โ๏ธ๐ Murph's Bar in Fishtownโan Irish pub with great Italian dishes. Sounds weird, but trust us on this one.
๐๐ฅ Zahav in Society Hill is literally the best restaurant in the country right now, according to the James Beard awards. Make a reservation for this Israeli hot spot in advance of your trip (like, yesterday).
โ๏ธ๐บ Outdoor Beer Gardens are a spring/summer/fall staple in Philly. Google the area you'll be staying in to see what's in season (right now, we're into Tired Hands Biergarten).
๐ท BYO is for more than house parties. Philly has some weird laws that make liquor licenses hard for restaurants to obtain. Don't be surprised when you see "BYO" signs outside of restaurants, and be sure to pick up a bottle or two on your way to dinner.
๐ Fairmount Park is one of the largest city parks in the country (5x larger than Central Park, fyi), and offers stellar views of the city, historic mansions, boathouses, and more.
๐ New Year's Day > New Year's Eve in Philly. Watch the ball drop and call it an early night on December 31st to enjoy the wackiness of the annual Mummers Parade the next day!
