User segmentation
With user segmentation, you can decide which users can see and/or purchase published content.
A typical use case is e.g. a private screening to a selected user group like journalists, colleagues or a film club.
When you assign an asset to a user segment it won't be visible or searchable for any user outside the user segment.
User scenario: Early access to a movie
You can use segmentation to give a dedicated customer group early access to a new movie before you release it for all customers.
- In the console, you start with creating a user segment.
- Then you can add existing users to the segment.
- Next, you add the user segment to the movie which is included in your general offering.
- Add the movie to your regular collections, then publish it
- Your dedicated customers can now access the movie in your service
- Remove the segment from the movie to release it to everyone.
User scenario: Paid screening
You can use segmentation to arrange a paid screening for a dedicated group.
- In the console, you start with creating a user segment.
- Then you add existing users to the segment.
- Next, you add the user segment to an asset.
- Then create a package that includes the asset
- Next, add the package to an offer and connect the segment to it
- Add the movie to your regular collections, then publish it
- Send the URL to the offer to the users you want to invite. The URL looks like this: https://partner-domain/purchase-offer/OFFER_ID
- After the user goes through the purchase flow she can access the asset in your service.
User scenario: Free screening
You can use segmentation in combination with promotion codes to arrange a free screening for a dedicated group.
- In the console, you start with creating a user segment.
- Then you can add existing users to the segment.
- Next, you add the user segment to an asset.
- Then create a package that includes the asset
- Next, add the package to an offer and connect the segment to it
- Create a promotion code that gives a 100% discount on the offer. You can also create a bypass checkout code if you don't want to collect the payment details.
- Add the movie to your regular collections, then publish it
- Send the URL to the offer to the users you want to invite. The URL looks like this: https://partner-domain/purchase-offer/OFFER_ID?promoCode=PROMO_CODE
- After the user follows the URL she can access the asset in your service.
Alternatively, you can also add the offer manually to the user accounts.
- In the console, you start with creating a user segment.
- Then you can add existing users to the segment.
- Next, you add the user segment to an asset.
- Then create a package that includes the asset and connect it with a hidden offer
- Add the offer manually as an entitlement to the user accounts. Check the guide here.
- Add the movie to your regular collections, then publish it
- Your dedicated customers can now access the movie in your service.
